Some of the most common verbs do not add '-ed' — they change completely.

Irregular verbs must be memorised
افعال بی‌قاعده باید حفظ شوند

These verbs do not follow the '-ed' rule — they have a special past form: go → went.
این افعال قاعدهٔ «-ed» را دنبال نمی‌کنند — شکل مخصوص گذشته دارند: go → went.

The past form is the same for every person: I went, she went, they went.
شکل گذشته برای هر شخص یکسان است: I went, she went, they went.

Learn them a few at a time, in short sentences you actually use.
آنها را کم‌کم، در جمله‌های کوتاه که خودت استفاده می‌کنی، یاد بگیر.

In Dari, رفتم already means 'I went' — one word carries the whole meaning. In English 'went' is one word too, but it never changes for different people — only the pronoun before it changes.
در دری «رفتم» خودش یعنی «من رفتم» — یک کلمه همه معنی را دارد. در انگلیسی هم «went» یک کلمه است، اما هیچ‌وقت برای اشخاص مختلف تغییر نمی‌کند — فقط ضمیر پیش از آن تغییر می‌کند.
